A Building Management System (BMS),
also known as a Building Automation
System (BAS), is a computer-based
solution used to monitor and control a
building’s key systems.
These typically include HVAC (heating,
ventilation, and air conditioning),
lighting, energy usage, fire safety, and
security.
The primary objective of a BMS is to
streamline building operations,
maximize energy efficiency, improve
occupant comfort, and maintain safety
standards.
Direct Digital Control (DDC) is a control technology that uses digital microprocessors to automatically monitor and manage physical processes—such as temperature, humidity, and pressure—via sensor inputs and actuator outputs. It’s widely used in HVAC systems and building automation to enable precise, programmable control, network communication (via protocols like BACnet or Modbus), centralized logic, data logging, and remote monitoring or adjustment.
